About Berrak

After graduating from Uskudar American Academy with an average GPA and way too many non-academic social activities on my resumé, I attended Brandeis University (Waltham, MA) where I started out studying Political Science but later on switched my focus to Women’s Studies and Literature. Not too happy living in Boston, and constantly having too much trouble enjoying and appreciating classes I should have liked, I eventually made a drastic change in my life... I decided to move to the West Coast. With the help of Tamer Turkman, I ended up a Literature Major in San Francisco at USF, where, for the first time in my life I learned it was possible to fall in love with a city!

Since moving back to Turkey I have and continue to struggle with depression and my weight issues. I have also tried to become more involved in helping homeless animals as much as I can with what I can spare, after taking care of my own 2 Dogs and 6 Cats, as well as the stray dogs and cats that sporadically come looking for food in my neighborhood.

One dream  I’ve had shelved for as long as I can remember is to someday write a novel I can be proud of. Maybe one day, I’ll have the courage to dust off those shelves and get the ball rolling on that dream. However, that day is not today. Today, all I feel comfortable sharing are these short little glimpses into my soul and hope anyone reading can enjoy as well as relate to them.
