Trials

She set out on her journey with a box full of dreams,
and, her plans to explore whole new continents and seas.
The world had to have more to offer than just birds and bees.
She hoped to see what was out there, among mystical beings.
She set out on her journey with pure courage and ease,
only to lose it all, once storms engulfed her overtired knees.
She struggled against the current in vain,
sinking further down the dark abyss, of a death-ridden shady terrain
All the while wondering:
“Why did I fail? What did I miss, just before I was defeated in that fierce rain?”

Then a voice broke the soaked silence
And explained all the disturbing violence.
It told her there was a purpose
to each and every trial.
There was good reason
to overcome denial.
It told her all the bad stuff
was meant to assess her strength
they were tests to prove herself worthy at length.

It told her to stand tall
as she entered the judgment hall,
for her conscience should be clear
as long as she bravely faced her greatest fear.
And all things that to her were very dear,
Would be kept safely, somewhere near.
The voice assured her that the trials
would soon come to an end,
and that the answers to everything
were just around the bend.
Soon she’d be free to spread the cheer,
for the once abysmally murky future,
would finally be clear!
While a better, much brighter fortune,
would at last be tangible for it’d be here!
