The story is one about two people, who are both too angry at the world to see any beauty within, or recognize and appreciate love in their lives, until it's almost too late and everything's about to be ripped away from them. There are all kinds of scars and flaws that make these characters stand out and come alive beautifully.
Ellie with all her righteous anger and Camden with all his sweet charm and his deliciously tattoo covered body embodies all our favorite book boyfriends rolled into one, with the gorgeous body of a warrior, the hands of an artist and the soul of an adorably tortured, protective and loving nerd... and his infinite capacity to see and bring out true beauty in all of Ellie's scars...both the ones visible on her leg and the ones she carries within, in the form of a chip on her shoulder... They are both, simply put, tragically beautiful, period.
Who knew action-packed stories could also pack such a strong punch when it came to breaking hearts?! ;)
