A Magical New Year's...

An explosion of colorful fireworks celebrated the invasion of 2012 by 2013 as many people celebrated the arrival of hope along with the new year.
Some celebrated tipsy on both alcohol and life, surrounded by friends, family and music, while others stuck at home, either sick and on bedrest after their most recent battle (and loss) against germs or just simply unwilling to deal with the headache and/or chaos of being around other people on such an infamously chaotic night celebrated either glued to their tv's and watching mind numbing entertainment or in quiet contemplation, going over every last detail of the past year hoping the contemplation would help them avoid the pitfalls of the next one... And in 60 short seconds, not much different from the 60 before or after, a whole year passed. 60 short or long seconds (depending on the celebrators' moods) of letting go of old baggage, disappointments and grudges while embracing (possibly quite naively) and renewing hopes and dreams all the while knowing that most of us will probably be doing pretty much the same thing exactly 365 days from now... And we claim we're not crazy? But anyway, for better or worse, approximately 7 billion people today will have spent at least 60 seconds doing the same thing today, and for those of us who are cynical and tend to not believe in magic, that alone seems to constitute some serious proof against our stubborn and cynical asses!! Happy new year everyone... And for 60 seconds today, remember to enjoy the magic that will probably be quite noticeably missing the rest of the year...
